Dental Implants in Turkey (Antalya)

A dental implant is a small, medical-grade titanium screw placed into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Once it fuses with the bone (osseointegration), a crown, bridge or denture is attached on top to restore function and appearance.

Adults with one or more missing teeth who have enough healthy jawbone (or who can have bone grafting), healthy gums, and reasonable general health. It is often the most stable long-term option for replacing missing teeth.

Implants may not be recommended, or may need extra planning, for: uncontrolled diabetes, active untreated gum disease, heavy smokers (higher failure rates), recent head/neck radiotherapy or certain bone medications (bisphosphonates), and children whose jaws are still growing. A full assessment decides suitability case by case.

The main alternatives are a fixed dental bridge (uses adjacent teeth for support), a removable partial or complete denture, or leaving the gap untreated. Each has different costs, longevity and effects on neighbouring teeth — we explain the trade-offs so you can choose.

Yes — where a natural tooth can realistically be saved (for example with a root canal and a crown), preserving it is usually preferable to extraction and an implant. Implants are for teeth that are already missing or cannot be saved. We always assess whether the tooth can be kept first.

Typically two visits: the first for implant placement, and a second (usually 3–4 months later) to fit the permanent crown after the implant has fused with the bone. In selected immediate-loading cases, temporary fixed teeth can be placed at the first visit.

Around 3–5 days for the first (surgical) visit and about 5–7 days for the second (restorative) visit, depending on the number of implants and any additional procedures. Your exact schedule is given before you travel.

Yes — a temporary crown or denture is normally provided so you are not left with a visible gap, particularly for front teeth, while the implant heals.

We use internationally recognised implant systems including Straumann and Nobel Biocare, chosen to suit the clinical case. Crowns are typically zirconia or IPS e.max. The recommended system is stated in your written treatment plan.

Implant surgery is performed by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon; the crown and prosthetic work are designed and fitted by Specialist Prosthodontist Dr Sadık Taki. You are treated by the right specialist for each stage, not a single general dentist.

Most patients experience some swelling, bruising, minor bleeding and temporary discomfort for a few days, which usually settles with simple pain relief. Temporary numbness or altered sensation can occur and normally resolves.

Less common but more serious risks include implant failure or non-integration (independent research reports roughly 90–95% survival at 10 years — Howe et al., Journal of Dentistry, 2019), infection around the implant (peri-implantitis), nerve injury causing lasting numbness, and — for upper back implants — sinus complications. These are uncommon and are minimised by 3D CBCT planning and specialist surgery.

Success means the implant has fused with the bone, is stable and supports a functional, comfortable, natural-looking restoration. Failure means the implant becomes loose, infected or loses supporting bone; if this happens, it is removed and, where appropriate, replaced — corrective clinical work is covered by the guarantee.

Initial soft-tissue healing takes about 1–2 weeks. Full osseointegration (the implant fusing with bone) takes roughly 3–4 months before the permanent restoration is fitted. Most people return to normal daily activity within a day or two of surgery.

Eat soft foods and avoid chewing directly on the surgical site for the first few days. Do not smoke, as it significantly increases failure risk. Keep the area clean with gentle brushing as instructed, and attend regular check-ups and professional cleaning to protect your implants long term.

Implant fixtures and components carry the manufacturer’s lifetime warranty, subject to the manufacturer’s conditions. Corrective clinical work covered by our written guarantee is carried out at the clinic free of charge. Travel and accommodation are not automatically covered; in exceptional cases where the clinic accepts clinical responsibility, travel support may be approved in writing before travel.

You receive a written treatment plan and quotation, an implant passport/brand card identifying the exact implant used, an itemised invoice, your written guarantee document, personalised aftercare instructions, and copies of your radiographs.
