Are dental crowns in Turkey worth it?
Quick answer: Yes. Taki Dent mills zirconia and E.max crowns in its own CAD/CAM lab from €215 — 60–80% less than UK prices. A systematic review reports around 97% crown survival at five years, with zirconia comparable to metal-ceramic (Pjetursson et al., 2018), and Taki Dent guarantees all crown work in writing.

What is this treatment?+
A dental crown is a custom-made cap — usually zirconia or IPS e.max ceramic — that covers a damaged, weakened, root-treated or heavily filled tooth (or an implant) to restore its shape, strength and appearance.
Who is it suitable for?+
Patients with a cracked, worn, heavily filled or root-canal-treated tooth that needs protection, or who want to improve the look of a back or front tooth while restoring function.
Who is it not suitable for?+
A crown may not be the best option for a tooth with insufficient remaining structure or advanced gum disease (which must be treated first), or where a more conservative option (such as a veneer or filling) would suffice.
What are the alternatives?+
Alternatives include a large filling or onlay (for smaller damage), a veneer (for front-tooth aesthetics with healthy structure), or extraction and replacement if the tooth cannot be saved.
Can the natural tooth be saved instead?+
Yes — a crown is a tooth-preserving restoration: it protects and keeps your natural tooth rather than removing it. We choose a crown when a filling is not enough but the tooth can still be saved.
How many visits are needed?+
Usually two visits (preparation and digital scanning, then fitting), often within one short trip; where the case allows, same-/next-day crowns can shorten this.
How many days should I stay?+
Typically about 3–5 days to allow laboratory fabrication of the definitive crown.
Are temporary teeth provided?+
Yes — a temporary crown is normally fitted to protect the prepared tooth until the definitive crown is placed.
Materials and brands used+
Zirconia or IPS e.max ceramic (metal-free) for natural appearance and strength, produced by a own digital laboratory to precise digital specifications; the material is agreed with you.
Which clinician performs it?+
Crowns are designed and fitted by Specialist Prosthodontist Dr Sadık Taki.
Common risks and side effects+
Mild sensitivity to hot and cold after preparation is common and usually settles; temporary gum tenderness around a new crown can occur.
Less common but serious risks+
Less common but more significant issues include a crown debonding or fracturing, decay at the margin if hygiene is poor, or the underlying tooth/nerve needing further treatment (occasionally root canal). Modern zirconia and e.max crowns are strong and long-lasting when well maintained.
How success and failure are defined+
Success means a well-fitting crown that functions comfortably, protects the tooth and looks natural. Failure means debonding, fracture or recurrent decay/infection; the crown is re-cemented or remade — corrective clinical work is covered by the written guarantee.
Recovery and healing+
There is essentially no surgical recovery; mild sensitivity may last a few days. You adapt to the crown quickly.
Eating and oral hygiene+
Avoid biting very hard objects, keep the margin clean with brushing and flossing, and attend regular check-ups. A night guard is advised if you grind your teeth.
What the guarantee covers+
Crowns carry Taki Dent’s own 5-year written guarantee, counted from the day the final restoration is delivered, subject to conditions. Standard-tier crowns in Dental Direkt zirconia are covered by that guarantee alone; premium-tier crowns in genuine Ivoclar IPS e.max additionally carry Ivoclar’s own separate 10-year manufacturer guarantee. Corrective clinical work covered by the guarantee is free at the clinic; travel is not automatically covered (only by prior written agreement in exceptional cases).
What the price includes+
The per-tooth price includes consultation, preparation, digital scanning, the temporary crown and the definitive crown. Any root canal or core build-up needed is itemised separately — see the prices page.
Documents you receive+
You receive a written treatment plan and quotation, an itemised invoice, your written guarantee, material/shade details and aftercare instructions.
What to do in an emergency+
For a debonded or fractured crown, or persistent pain after returning home, contact us via WhatsApp or phone; seek local dental care if urgent.
Sources and last review+
