Do You Need a Visa for Dental Treatment in Turkey?

Before booking your dental trip to Turkey, it is important to understand the entry requirements for your nationality. The good news: the process is simple for most Western visitors, and no special medical visa is required for dental treatment.

UK Citizens: e-Visa Required Since Brexit

Since the United Kingdom left the European Union, British passport holders can no longer enter Turkey visa-free. A Turkish e-Visa is required before travelling. The process is straightforward and entirely online:

  • Apply at the official Turkish e-Visa portal: evisa.gov.tr
  • Cost: approximately €60 / $65 USD (fees subject to change — always check the official portal)
  • Processing time: Usually approved within minutes; allow up to 24 hours to be safe
  • Validity: Typically allows multiple entry within 180 days, with stays up to 90 days per visit
  • Required: Valid UK passport with at least 6 months validity beyond your travel date

The e-Visa is delivered by email — print a copy or save it to your phone to show at passport control. Do not use third-party sites for your e-Visa application — the official government portal is the only safe and correct source.

EU Citizens

Requirements vary by EU country:

  • Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland: e-Visa required (same process as UK citizens)
  • Some EU nationalities may enter with a valid national ID card rather than a passport — check Turkey's official e-Visa portal for your specific country
  • Cost and validity are the same as the UK e-Visa

The e-Visa process is quick and causes no practical difficulty for dental patients.

US, Canadian, and Australian Citizens

  • USA: e-Visa required — apply at evisa.gov.tr, approximately $65 USD
  • Canada: e-Visa required — approximately $60 USD
  • Australia: e-Visa required — approximately $65 USD

All three nationalities receive single or multiple entry e-Visas valid for 90 days within a 180-day period — more than sufficient for any dental treatment trip.

Irish Citizens

Irish passport holders can currently enter Turkey visa-free for up to 90 days. No e-Visa purchase is necessary — simply present your Irish passport at arrival.

Length of Stay: More Than Enough for Treatment

A standard Turkish e-Visa or visa-free entry allows stays of 90 days within any 180-day period. Even the most extensive dental treatment (a full-mouth restoration) is completed within 10–14 days on the first trip. The visa duration is not a constraint for any dental patient.

Do You Need a Medical Visa for Dental Treatment?

No — a standard tourist visa or e-Visa is sufficient for dental treatment in Turkey. Medical visas exist in Turkey but are not required or applicable for outpatient dental care. You enter as a tourist, receive your treatment, and depart as normal. There is no registration or special declaration required for dental tourism.

TakiDent Invitation Letters

In the very rare case that a patient requires additional documentation for visa purposes (relevant only to a small number of nationalities), TakiDent can provide an official clinic invitation letter on request, confirming your scheduled treatment and dates. Contact the clinic if this is needed for your visa application.

Passport Validity

Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel date. Turkey border officials routinely deny entry to holders of passports with less than 6 months remaining validity.
